China! and Vietnam

Hi! I am sorry that I haven't been writing in this blog since April, but Blogger is blocked in China. But I am now in Vietnam!
While in China, for the past several weeks, I have been keeping (though badly) a blog of the things I have done there. I was looking for something that wasn't blocked, so I used cdlloyd.blog.com and then when that stopped working for me, I made a third one, which is cdlloyd.wordpress.com
So that is how you can see what I am up to in China.
But I am in Vietnam now. Maria and I came down here for two weeks, and we are in Phu Quoc, an island in the south of Vietnam, and next to Cambodia. The water is wonderfully warm, the air is hot and steamy, but with a beautiful sea breeze, and things are nice. Today we went all over the island with a scooter, which we rented for $5. There is a white sand beach on the east side. We haven't gone snorkeling yet, and I am eager to get in the water with some eyes, and maybe even try to get a spear, or make one if I can.

Last night there was a thunderstorm and it was really a battle between the gods up there. Lightning every 5 seconds or so and some big booming thunderclaps. I tried to take some pictures of it, but the one that I got with a lightning bolt in it wasn't very good. But there is one shot looking down the beach and it is nicely lit up by the flash. But I need a super wide angle lens to get the bolts, and then I need to guess the time, so that the shutter isn't open too long. I have some white sky shots from too many bolts and the clouds are all lit up too.
