So the second of the last two weeks... First off, we were forced to change our plans because it was so windy, and the sunny weather was forecast to diminish. On the second day I had a hike up a river flat and found a bold little yellowlegs, who walked right up to me. Then, at the river itself, we had a little Sharp Shinned hawk fly by and land on a branch!
I did a few bushwacks, so that afternoon at Emmons Island we had some Steller Jays scream at us
And at Hidden falls we had a few bears roaming around. Here's mama leading the cubs
And she kept them in check
Then they had some blueberries
Then we found some bubblenetters!
And then more netters
And then had a few orcas
And most amazingly, a few dall's porpoise bow-rode the orcas! Little guys playing with big black and whites!
We went to Basket Bay, and found the cave of wonder there
And I did a nice kayak with some river otters
On the last day, in glacier Bay, it had been raining, but that it was snowing up on the hills! It really needs to be snowing and raining here, the salmon are all in tiny pools and getting eaten by bears and not spawning. Hopefully this helps. It looks like the rain is going to be here for a little while though, more rain this week.
